What is Mixed Disciplines? This means artists working in all mediums and art forms are welcome in this session. We are thrilled to include the whole range of creative expressions. Mixed discipline sessions can be super invigorating because you get a lot of different perspectives on your work, and even find artists working in other mediums have new perceptions. ALL ART FORMS ARE WELCOME….some forms that have been in sessions: performance artists, visual artists, fiber-artists, writers, performers, essayists, poets, prose-writers, actors, singers, choreographers, dancers, interdisciplinary artists, and more. These sessions are Vanessa’s specialty–she brings almost 20 years of working in the intersections of form and has delightedly facilitated rigorous discussions and feedback for many kinds of artists.

VANESSA DEWOLF, former director of the Field-Seattle, has been facilitating Field Sessions for nearly two decades and is committed to useful, reflective, and practical feedback for the artist as she develops her work-in-progress. She has also been running two process oriented studios, Studio Current & PROJECT: Space Available, for nearly a decade. Studio Current is a curated community space that hosts 14-26 artists each year in 6-8 month creative residencies; artists that have taken part in the seasons have developed work for On the Boards Northwest New Works Festival, Velocity’s Next Fest, the A.W.A.R.D Show, and many have gone on to independently produce full evenings of their own work. PROJECT: Space Available is 1-2 month immersive residencies for performance-installation artists, curated in December, 6-8 artists are selected to create site-responsive work in the space. Vanessa is primarily a poetic improvising performance-installation artist. She created “Score for an Unrehearsed Ensemble” in the 2012 On the Boards Northwest New Works Festival, which included handmade paper costumes, 43 performers, and improvised performance, lighting, and set design. She has performed throughout Seattle for nearly two decades and has performed poetry readings, installations, and more.
